Former Chief Minister Sheikh Mohmmad Abdullah’s significant move of introducing single-window system of administration- also dubbed as Single Line Administration (SLA) from Doda district, way back in 1976, was acknowledged by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on early Monday morning, barely hours after she wrapped the grievances redressal camp in district under her Public Outreach Initiative. In what was certainly her longest public interactions and possibly the longest of any Chief Minister over the decades, Mehbooba’s grievances redressal camp that had begun on Sunday morning ran into the next date, with Chief Minister disposing the complaints and demands of the deputations till 1.30 am Mondy night in Doda. The camp, it may be mentioned, had started at 10.30 am on Sunday morning and continued till late in the night, explaining the popularity of Chief Minister’s recent initiative of reaching out to masses. Around 5’o clock in the morning, three hours after she had met the deputation- of Palmas area, around 1.40 am, Mehbooba took to Twitter to acknowledge the significant work done 41 years ago, by former Chief Minister Sheikh Mohmmad Abdullah in a bid to make the administration more accessible for common masses, much like what she has been doing from past over 3 months. “After interacting with the people of Doda, one can imagine why late Sheikh saheb had started his public outreach from the earstwhile Doda district,” Mehbooba wrote on social networking site Twitter, exhibiting the political maturity she has gained as the first woman Chief Minister of the one of the most difficult state in the country. Mehbooba’s acknowledgement, while vindicated the political mastery Abdullah had, but was also a tribute to the significant introduction of Single Line Administration (SLA), a move aimed at making the Deputy Commissioners of districts the single-point of masses’ accessibility to the administration. Abdullah, it may be recalled, had started his Public Outreach from Doda district by introducing single-window system of administration, way back in 1976, an year after he came back into power. “It’s the most underdeveloped region with the least connectivity. We will work tirelessly to develop Doda & make it a model district,” Mehbooba added in the same tweet. On the second leg of her three-day visit to Chenab region, Mufti yesterday reached the Doda district headquarters from Kishtwar and convened a public grievance redressal camp which ended into the next date till 2’o clock. It may be mentioned here that these grievances redressal camps convened by the Chief Minister generally extend upto late in the evenings. The camp at Kishtwar on Saturday which started at 11 am ended at 11.30 pm with a deputation from Drabshalla bringing their problems into the notice of the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister announced release of Rs. 25 lacs for procuring a digital X-ray for the District Hospital, Doda and Rs. 20 lacs for completing the balance work of the stadium in the town. Mehbooba Mufti also announced construction of community halls in the Route, Behote and Batakund villages of Marmat area of the district. This was in response to the demands of the people of these areas during the longest in decades’ grievances redressal camp.
